There seem to be two approaches to the Bluebird pas de deux. Traditionally the Bluebird, and Florine as a human princess who wants to fly too and join him, and this one, in Ashton's version for the Royal Ballet; Princess Florine has achieved her wish and been transformed into a bird to match her avian prince.

This is a terrible, shameful performance. What happened to his beautiful voice? Completly broken.
He pushed all of his career and he is left with an out of control vibrato and inconsistent vocal production. He is only 61, many great tenors sang quite well in their sixties.
